Inspiration is Unpredictable – How to Keep the Ideas Flowing

It’s true!  Most entrepreneurs somewhat dread writing their newsletters.  The process of continuously coming up with ideas can be a daunting task to do week after week.

You sit down to start writing and you just stare at the empty page.  Before you know it, hunger strikes.  Then you notice that the laundry needs to be done.  Now it’s an hour later and you still haven’t written your article.

You sit down one more time and your mind goes blank.  Every idea you had in the last week goes flying out of your head and you can’t think of a single thing to write about.  A task that should take no time at all has now stretched to three hours!

Has this happened to you?

After about the 50th time that it happened to me or one of my clients – I realized the problem and the solution.

Inspiration rarely strikes when you are under a deadline.  It strikes when you are in the shower, going for a walk, or at a wonderful meal with a good friend.

When you are sitting in front of that empty piece of paper – the pressure of the moment seems to make a mind go blank.

So here’s the key – keep a running list of ideas.

  • Keep a list of article ideas.
  • Keep a list of business ideas.
  • Keep a list of content ideas.

And when you are out and about record your ideas on your phone or some other device.

I keep all of my lists in my planner pad (www.plannerpad.com).   I use my planner pad for all planning and organizing of my life.

Then whenever I need to write a newsletter or come up with a new product – I just pick an idea from my list and start writing.  This makes life SO much easier.

Get started with your lists and leave me a comment to let me know what you do to keep the ideas flowing – we could all use help in this category.
