“Time To Get Creative”

One of my platinum clients asked a brilliant question this past weekend, “How do I take advantage of all of the different kinds of people I know in order to help my business. For example, I have friends that work in fashion, beauty and in retail stores. But I don’t know how to ask them to support my business since they aren’t exactly my ideal clients.”

Perhaps this shows up in your own business. You have many successful friends and family members, but you aren’t quite sure how to involve them in your business. But you know if you could just find a way to ask them to help, they would be more than happy to assist.

The key is to get creative.

So let’s start with events. Let’s say you are a health coach. You could create a “detox and botox” night with your local salon (yes I actually did that, and I can hear your wise-cracks right now – ahem, it was a very profitable evening). You could create a “health and wealth” night with a financial planner (yes, did that too, and learned a ton). You could ask your hair salon to host a ladies night out.

One of my clients is a relationship expert. She partnered with a winery and chocolate shop to do a “wine, sex and chocolate” night. Let’s just say it was a huge hit.

Another one of my clients passed out her free gift after her favorite spinning class (with the permission of her instructor). She signed three new clients that week.

Yet another client held a financial workshop at her local bank branch. More than fifty local business owners came to the event. She was able to sign two new clients that very night.

One of my clients invited her college friends to do her program for free as long as they could find someone else to pay full price. She managed to find four new clients for her group program that way.

There are so many ways to be creative in involving your community in your business. Most of the time it just starts with sitting down and brainstorming ideas.

Your mission for this week: Look at your address book. Who’s in it that you could collaborate with? Set up a coffee or phone date and start talking!

I’m doing a contest for next week. I’d love to hear your favorite collaboration ideas. I’ll choose a few and publish them in the newsletter for next week with your name and website. Hop over to the blog to post your ideas.
