The Power of Intuition
Build More Confidence, Business Mindset, Get Out Of Your Own Way
If you’re anything like me, you seem to have what I call “hindsight” intuition. Meaning that when something happens that isn’t good — you say to yourself, “I knew it. It just felt odd. I wish I would have paid more attention to my intuition.” This happens to the best of us.
I got so tired of not trusting my intuition soon enough, that I actually came up with a term to measure myself against: Time from Intuition (TFI). The time that it takes from when I get an intuitive hit to when I act upon it. For some of us TFI is lightning fast — for others it’s painfully slow. And for some of you, the voice of intuition is hard to identify at any time.
Here’s the key: the faster I have acted on my intuition, the more personal success I’ve had. For me, speeding up my Time from Intuition has been a major contributor to my success, both personally and professionally. Along the way, I’ve learned a couple of tricks to make this process easier.
One of the tricks is paying attention to how your specific intuitive hits appear. For some of us it’s a feeling somewhere in our bodies. For others it comes as a vision or a perception of colors or energy. Still others hear it as a voice in our head that speaks clearly. And for some, it’s a knowing. It feels like a drop of information that just appears from nowhere. Of course there are all kinds of combinations.
Start paying attention to how your intuition appears.
The more you do, the faster you can recognize a feeling as an intuitive hit and act upon it.
Another trick is to build your trust by following your small intuitive hits. Ask yourself which would be the fastest road to take home and follow it. In the morning, ask your intuition what outfit will suit you best for the day, and see what comes up. Follow your intuition on what to order off the menu. As you build your intuitive trust for small decisions, you’ll be able to start using your intuition for bigger decisions like how to spend your money, when to plan an event, etc. You will see your personal success begin to grow.
Use the following exercise to get you started:
Close your eyes. Ask yourself, “What is my intuition trying to tell me right now?” Open your eyes. Start writing.
How do you get your intuitive hits? Hearing, seeing, knowing, or feeling? Describe when and how these intuitive hits work.
Intuition is your connection to the universe. It assures us that we aren’t alone. Here’s to increasing your TFI.
