Summoning Your Intuition With Tarot
Entrepreneurs often ask me, “Monica, when I’m making a decision in my business or facing disappointment, how do I call on my intuition or higher self to figure out how to proceed?” And it’s a tough question for me to answer because there are so many ways to start to let your intuition support you or listen to the nudges of the universe. One of my favorite methods is using the Tarot Deck.
I’ve been reading Tarot cards for 20 years now, and I absolutely love using them to help guide me in so many different facets of my life. In my business, they help me find success, process and move past really tough emotions (like sadness or disappointment), and make decisions.
Let’s talk through what the Tarot is and what it’s not.
It is not a predictive device that tells me what to do or foretells my future, and it is not evil or dark magic. Those are old-school beliefs that spread because of a fear of the unknown and a need to resist it.
In reality, what I love about the Tarot is its abundance of archetypal images that we can use to improve our lives.
Here’s just one example of how it made my life better.
It was the second night of a big three-day event, and I was waiting for the elevator up to my hotel room, feeling so drained and frustrated.
I felt like I wasn’t truly connecting with my participants at the event, and I didn’t know what to do about it. I couldn’t put my finger on any one thing that I was doing wrong or something specific that I could do to improve the situation.
As I unlocked the door to my room, I felt powerless and alone. (Sound familiar?)
And I have to say that, left to my own devices, I would have sunk into my too-soft hotel bed and decided that there was nothing I could do.
I would’ve gone back to the event the next day feeling less excited and less hopeful, and maybe only given 50% of myself.
But, by some miracle of healthy decision-making, I spread out my Tarot deck.
I pulled one card and turned it over – it was the Eight of Wands.
Now, the Eight of Wands is one of the only cards in the Tarot deck with no people on it. It’s an image of eight wands flying through the air.
To me, the wands represent fire and taking action – the root of your soul-fire and what you’re supposed to do next.
The Eight of Wands says, “Hey, this is your invitation to keep going and stay in action – to try something new, but not to give up.”
As soon as I saw that card, I realized that I needed to keep going. But I needed to try something different.
So I picked out a video to show the following morning at the event. And that video ended up cultivating a whole different level of discussion and inspiration between myself and my participants.
It kick-started one of the best days of an event that I had ever done.
Thanks to my inner teacher and the higher wisdom of the universe, I was able to move through an experience where I felt alone and powerless – and it was the Tarot deck that had facilitated all of it.
So my invitation to you this week is to find something that sparks your intuition or your own inner wisdom, whether it’s a Tarot deck, an Oracle deck, a long bath, or just going for a walk.
Allow that inner wisdom to motivate and inspire you to keep moving forward no matter what.
If this discussion of the Tarot deck sparked your interest and you’d like to learn more, I want to personally invite you to my new event.
It’s coming up on August 19: The Tarot Workshop for Entrepreneurs: How to Use the Archetypes of the Tarot to Trust Your Inner Voice, Make Better Decisions, & Grow Your Business Faster.
I can’t wait to share my Tarot experience with you!
