Why your program might not be selling (and how to fix it)
I want to let you in on a little secret: If your program has a vague name and fuzzy benefits, no amount of manifestation candles or Instagram posts will sell it.
You can’t just call something “The Alignment Academy” or “The Transformation Method” and hope people whip out their credit cards. Not anymore.
Why? Because this market is different. Buyers are more cautious. They want clarity. They want to know exactly what they are getting, why it matters, and why they should choose you instead of the 10 other coaches in their feed.
Here’s the hard truth: if you can’t clearly explain what your program does and why it’s different, people won’t buy it.
So how do you fix this? It comes down to positioning.
Positioning means communicating your program in a way that makes people lean in and say, “I need that.”
Here are 3 keys to positioning a program that actually sells:
- Specificity sells.
Instead of “helping women step into their power,” say “helping women negotiate 20% raises without burning bridges.” The more specific, the easier it is for clients to self-identify. - Results over process.
People don’t care about your 12 modules, your bonus videos, or your sacred spreadsheets. They care about the transformation. Lead with what they get, not how you deliver it. - Innovative language.
If your program sounds like everyone else’s, it blends into the noise. You need language that makes people stop scrolling. That might mean a surprising metaphor, a contrarian angle, or simply saying the quiet part out loud.
Quick exercise:
Write down the name of your current program and a one-sentence description.
- Now read it out loud to a friend or partner.
- Watch their reaction. Do they light up and say “I need that”? Or do they give you the polite smile and “that’s nice”?
If it’s the latter, your program positioning needs a tune-up.
