Three Questions for April Reflection

It’s hard to believe that we’re already three months into the year. As we move into April, we have a great opportunity to stop and reflect.

Reflection is really about asking yourself, how am I doing and what could shift here? And today I’d like to share three questions that I love to ask in moments of reflection.

You can use these questions to reflect on the quarter as a whole, but you could also use these questions as daily or weekly self-check-ins.

The first question is, what am I avoiding? I ask myself this question daily to get under the surface of how I’m spending my time.

This question often automatically brings up the most important thing that you should be doing, but that you’re avoiding by doing other things.

By the way, if you are interested in answering this question daily, it’s a designated part of the evening plan sections in my Breakthrough Planner.

The second question is, who else can I get to do this work? Most of us don’t even think about delegating until we’re so exhausted we can hardly move. But asking this question is a great way to start thinking proactively about delegation

Start making a list of when, what, and how you want to delegate tasks. This will help you proceed more smoothly with delegation – even if you know that delegating won’t be realistic for you for another six months or a year.

The third question is, does the work that I’m doing now align with my 90-day goals?

The issue here is that we tend to get stuck in shiny penny syndrome, if you will, where we allow ourselves to be distracted by new trends, cool little programs, and comparing ourselves to others.

Regularly asking yourself this question is a reminder to stay focused on taking action and doing work towards fulfilling your 90-day goals.

By the way, I also recommend that you write down your 90-day goals every single day so that they stay fresh in your mind. If you are interested in a designated place to write down your 90-day goals, that’s the very first step of the daily plan sections in my Breakthrough Planner.

So I invite you to ask yourself these three questions right now, and – if you choose to – every day this week. Pay attention to how this practice impacts the actions that you’re taking – it just might help you use your time and energy so much more efficiently.
