What Happens When You Finally Know How to Start the Conversation

What Happens When You Finally Know How to Start the Conversation
and why that one shift made all the difference for this client

I want to tell you a story about one of my clients, Kimberly.

When she first came into the RISE Business Academy, she wasn’t new to business. She’d already had some success. She was smart, capable, showing up consistently – doing “all the right things.”

But behind the scenes?

She was spinning in a familiar loop:

“What should I be doing? Why aren’t people reaching out? What am I missing?”

That question comes up all the time with my clients—especially those in that early growth stage, around $2–5K/month. They’re doing the work, but they don’t have a reliable way to create results on purpose.

So that’s where we started.

And instead of jumping into launch strategy or funnels or email automations, we focused on something way simpler:

👉 How to start a sales conversation.

Not in a weird or robotic way.
Not sliding into someone’s DMs with a pitch.

But how to confidently connect with someone, check if they might be a fit, and guide the conversation with clarity and integrity.

We walked through who to reach out to, how to do it without overthinking, and what to say if they actually responded (which, spoiler alert – they did).

Within a month, she’d onboarded 6 new clients. No launch. No sales page. No new content plan.

Just real, grounded conversations.

And here’s the thing most people miss:

We think getting sales requires a big show.
We think we need to “build the whole funnel” before we start.

But the truth? Sales almost always start with a conversation.

And if you don’t know how to initiate that, your offers stay invisible – no matter how good they are.

Kimberly didn’t get results because she worked harder.
She got results because she stopped sitting in the “what should I be doing?” fog and started taking clear, aligned action.

So what happened next?

A few months later, she decided to launch a group program – and this time, she was ready to go bigger.

But instead of guessing or throwing together a launch last minute, she layered what she’d already learned (how to connect + how to speak to the right people) with a solid launch strategy.

She ran a super effective webinar-style masterclass using the formulas we teach in RISE.

She showed up clearly, with strong messaging and a direct invitation.

And she filled 13 out of 13 spots in her group and eventually expanded her group to include 18 people!

One woman even came to the webinar, realized the group wasn’t the right fit for her – and signed up for private coaching instead, putting down a $1,000 deposit on the spot.

Because when your message is clear, and your confidence is solid, people trust you fast.

Here’s what I want you to take away from this:

Kimberly didn’t just “get lucky.”
She practiced the skill of sales – starting with the part most people avoid: initiating.

And then she built on it.

So many business owners try to skip ahead.

They want the results of a high-converting launch, without building the foundation that makes it work.

But sales don’t start with your launch calendar.
It starts with your ability to connect, communicate, and lead.

If you’re stuck in the “what should I be doing?” phase, try this:

  • Start with the people already around you
  • Practice reaching out – with real care and clarity
  • Focus on connection, not convincing
  • And get honest about what feels aligned and effective

Because the real magic happens when you stop waiting for leads to fall from the sky – and start leading conversations that move people toward a decision.

It’s not sexy.
It’s not always instant.
But it works. And it builds.

Every. Single. Time.
