I Make More Money When I’m Doing Yoga

Can you make more money by practicing self care?

It was 7:30 a.m. I got out of bed. I put on my sports bra, t-shirt, sweatpants, and gym shoes to go out for a morning walk.

And the whole time, I just kept thinking to myself, I could be doing work right now. I should be doing work right now. If I did work right now, maybe I could end my day sooner. Maybe I could go for a walk later.

But some other voice in my head reminded me that I’d made a commitment to go for a walk – so I started my walk.

I walked down to the waterfront – which is about a mile from my house – and at about mile two, a brilliant idea occurred to me.

I was teaching a workshop later that day for my RISE Business Academy, and I realized that there was something that my clients needed to learn and a way for me to teach it. Ideas just started popping into my head.

When I got home, I changed my outline for the workshop, and it ended up being a huge success.

You see, taking care of myself – doing things like going for walks or attending yoga classes – has never been easy for me.

I never want to go. I never want to get out of bed early in the morning, and I always think that those two extra hours of work will somehow make my business exponentially better.

If you’re anything like me, the idea of self-care just for self-care’s sake isn’t enough to get you to do it. You need to know that taking care of yourself will yield some sort of reward – not just for your health, but for your business as well.

I’ve been a seven-figure business owner for the past ten years. And when I’m actively engaging in self-care activities, I make more money. In fact, one of my favorite sayings is that I always make more money when I have a regular yoga practice.

This happens for three main reasons.

One: when I’m taking care of myself, I start vibrating at a higher level. When I’m vibrating at a higher level, I attract more clients – and better clients, too.

Two: when I take the time to cook meals, exercise, and meditate, I get better ideas, because my brain is more creative when I’ve been resting. Better ideas make my current clients happier and also attract more new clients.

Three: when I’m taking time for self-care, I think more clearly – which means I prioritize the activities that will move the needle on my business faster. I end up getting so much more done in less time.

Now, my guess is that you probably relate to all three of these results in some way. But if you’re like many of my clients, I know that you might need permission and validation from someone who’s been there, done that, and found sustained success.

And as somebody who has been running a successful seven-figure business for the past ten years, I can tell you that self-care isn’t just something you do because you want to be healthy.

Of course, mental and physical health are really important, but I would also say that self-care has consistently been one of the biggest contributors to my ability to sustain a successful business.

So this week I’d like to pose an invitation to you. When that voice in your head says, “Oh my gosh, I don’t need to go to this spinning class or stop for lunch because I should use that time to work,” instead, I want you to remember my voice.

When you go to that spin class, you will make more money. When you spend half an hour making a healthy lunch, you will make more money.

Trust me on this – it works.

And if you’re struggling to schedule self-care into a busy week, please come join us at the Rinse n’ Repeat Formula for Planning Profitable & Fun Weeks masterclass coming up tomorrow October 4th.
