Noticing Abundance in All Its Forms

Do you take time to notice the abundance in your life?

I have a beautiful black and white tuxedo cat named Luna. She is fierce – fierce about playing, fierce about running around the apartment – but she is especially fierce about loving.

In the morning when I wake up, Luna insists on rubbing her fur all over me, giving me head butts, licking my nose, and letting me know that she, for one, is so glad that I’m awake. This goes on for a full five minutes. It is glorious!

The same thing happens before I go to sleep at night. When we get into bed, she meows as if to say that now – right now – is cuddle time, and she will not take No for an answer. As I go to sleep each night, she sits on top of me, asking for pets and licking my nose with kisses.

It feels like her way of making sure that I fall asleep peacefully, knowing that I am loved. When I start to fall asleep, she feels my breath change and moves into her own bed, watching as my sleep deepens.

Luna brings me cuddles. She opens my heart. She reminds me of what’s important in the world. The other night, as she rubbed her face against mine, I realized that Luna is a form of abundance. Let me explain.

I’ve been teaching women entrepreneurs how to make money since 2010. That’s 13 years! I am shameless about helping women fill their bank accounts with the money that can fund the little things like nice sheets and the big things like moving to a new home.

One of the many reasons why money can be frustrating is the fact that you make different amounts of money at different points in time.

It is normal for a business to have contractions, where you make less money, and expansions, where you have make money.

For example, if you are just starting in your business, you’re spending money on expenses like supplies, support, coaches, and training, so you’re highly likely to experience contraction long before you reach a period of expansion.

If you’re planning an event or a launch in your business, you’re spending money on building a sales page, hiring a virtual assistant, and consulting people who can teach you how best to run that program. Again, you’re going to see less money long before you see more money.

Hiring someone new – maybe a new virtual assistant or client manager – works the same way. For the first 60 to 90 days that you’re paying them, you’re working extra hard to get them on board, and you don’t have the time for as many sales conversations.

As entrepreneurs, how do we navigate periods of contraction without succumbing to fear and worry?

The way that I like to look at this is to notice the many forms of abundance that are in our lives all the time.

Yes, money is important – I am the money gal over here at Revenue Breakthrough. But if you’re only looking for abundance in your bank account, you’ll find yourself constantly stressed and disappointed.

It’ll keep you from taking risks that could help your business grow because you’re only looking at how much money you could bring in.

We as a society tend to recognize abundance only when it comes to us in the form of money – but abundance comes in many forms.

I just spent five weeks at home in Cincinnati. While I was there, my sisters, my dad, and my nieces and nephews all came and visited. There was an abundance of family in my life, and it was beautiful.

Every morning and every evening that Luna comes and cuddles me and sits with me, there is an abundance of love in my life.

When you go to a beautiful dinner and have a multi course meal with friends or with family, there’s an abundance of food of flavor.

When you wake up on Saturday morning with four hours to yourself, those glorious Saturdays, there’s an abundance of time

When you’re laughing hysterically at a joke with your friends, there is an abundance of joy

I think one of the things that can keep us going as entrepreneurs is taking the time to notice abundance in all of its forms: abundance of friends, family, laughter, joy, time, space, health… and so much more.

It just makes life a lot easier.

While you are doing the marketing and visibility activities to get in front of your ideal clients to increase that cash flow, I invite you to pause and also notice the other forms of abundance in your life.

Enjoy them. Sure, that money will come in – but noticing all the forms of abundance along the way allows you to experience true joy in the process.
